Purpose & Objective
To fulfill our mission, MARES depends on strong community involvement—bringing together academia, government, industry, developers, and especially the new generation of concerned citizens.
The primary purpose of MARES is to protect, conserve, and restore upland, coastal, and marine environments. This is achieved through a series of objectives carried out by programs, projects, activities, and services, which include:

Investigation and Monitoring
Identify and prioritize action objectives; monitor the condition of marine resources and evaluate the effectiveness of contamination control, stabilization, and restoration projects.
Protection, Conservation & Restoration
Implement solutions to the problems identified and prioritized, using concrete, practical, and effective actions.

Adaptation and Management Plans
Develop and implement plans that address climate change adaptation and sustainable resource management.
Education Program
Promote environmental awareness and knowledge through face-to-face and virtual presentations, classes, and research expeditions.

School SailBoat
A marine educational and research program in collaboration with schools and universities, bringing students closer to the ocean and its ecosystems.
Awareness and empowerment
Encourage voluntary involvement in projects and community activities, including:
-
Volunteering – Build a network of volunteers to support conservation efforts.
-
Surveillance – Establish a corps of volunteer monitors and trainers to help safeguard ecosystems.
-
Virtual Forum – Provide an online space (“Blog”) to share information and discuss environmental issues.
